Who's in charge of your bird feeder?

Within minutes of hanging my brand new bird feeder, a resourceful red squirrel took charge. The squirrel had easy access from the tree trunk needing only a short stretch to reach the feeder. The ledge on the feeder made it simple for the squirrel to linger and gobble all the goodies.

I smirked at my naivety as I watched one pound of corn, sunflower seeds and peanuts disappear before my eyes resulting in one fat squirrel and a lot of intimidated birds.
