2024 is here! Let’s make it the best year ever.
Start planning NOW to achieve success. What you plan, how you plan it, and when you plan it are key to achieving your goals.
Here are five simple questions we ask our clients, to help them reflect on the previous year and prepare for the new one:
1. What person(s) or service(s) served me well in 2023, which I will continue in 2024?
- This may be a new team member or someone who ensures you are in top mental or physical form. For example, we brought a Tech Virtual Assistant (VA) onto the team, and it’s been a game changer. We can now streamline our automated processes without sacrificing our client service standards.
- Or, it may be a new app you love. We are loving Otter.ai, an app for recording and transcribing meeting notes. This tool allows me to be present in all my meetings and my coaching conversations.
What will you continue in 2024? Notice the gratitude you feel with this exercise.
2. What person(s) or service(s) no longer serve me well, which I will discontinue in 2024?
- This step may be more challenging, since it may take you out of your comfort zone, or away from well-worn habits.
- A few years ago, I gave up buying books. I adopted audio books instead, and although there was a learning curve, now I enjoy more books every year than ever before.
- I also retired my paper notebooks and instead use a digital notepad where I can transcribe my notes for sharing when needed. Again, there was a transition period, but I committed to the change and haven’t looked back.
What will you discontinue in 2024? Do you feel the freedom or lightness that comes with this decision?
3. What one activity made the biggest difference in 2023, that I will make the most of in 2024?
For me, recording videos for social media was challenging. With a background in video production, I focus on professional quality video. What I let go of was the perfectionism of professional video. Instead, I found that working authentically and showing up consistently are gaining greater traction for my messages.
What one activity will you leverage in 2024?
4. What is one thing I want MORE of in 2024?
- Most business owners and leaders want MORE time and flexibility in our scheduling (Declutter our calendar!).
- And we may want MORE space (Declutter our work environment!).
- Personally, I want more collaborations so I can co-create with other top-level business owners to add more value for my clients.
What do you want more of in 2024?
5. What is one thing I want LESS of in 2024?
- Distractions can be a drain, and my 2023 had plenty – new team members, renovations, technology upgrades…thankfully for me all of these were investments in my business, rather than operational losses. Keep investment vs loss in mind when choosing what to keep or what to eliminate.
- Perhaps you want fewer distractions as well. Or less trial and error. Less reacting to clients, economics, or world or personal life events.
What do you want less of in 2024? And what actions are you willing to take to eliminate that one thing?
