Ever get asked a surprising question?
I recently heard, “I thought you were a marketer?” 😬
That caught me off guard, so I asked, “Why do you ask?”
It turns out my recent social media posts raised some questions. While I’m glad my posts are getting noticed, I realize they may not have been as clear as they should be.
As a strategic marketer, consistency in messaging is crucial. And I missed the mark.
Here’s the thing, when I co-created the Business Leadership Breakthrough™ program, it was to support business owners who are successful with their marketing, growing their companies and expanding their teams.
With that growth comes new leadership responsibilities which requires fresh tools and resources to continue serving clients and leading teams effectively.
So, what happened with my social media posts?
It turns out the messaging I had been sharing didn’t tie back to my core role as a marketer.
I was speaking about leadership, strategy, and business growth – all important topics – but without clearly reinforcing how these fit into the broader context of marketing.
This misalignment led to confusion.
As a marketer, it’s my job to communicate a clear, consistent message to my audience.
Regardless of what your topic is, the goal is to tie everything back to your mission and how those topics benefit your audience.
When your messaging is inconsistent, it dilutes your impact and makes it harder for your audience to understand how you can help them achieve their goals.
In this month’s blog, I share tips and best practices to avoid marketing missteps like mine.
